Coffee Story

The best coffee experience was born in the shadows of the Três Pontas Mountains in Brazil with the benefits of using fair-trade standards. Our premium-quality coffee is named Três Pontas out of respect for the ideal geographical requirements for coffee bean cultivation in Brazil and the single-farm source we use that resides there. Using 100-percent pure Brazilian Arabica coffee beans, Três Pontas provides the freshest product on the market with farm-to-cup quality while being socially responsible and improving the lives of growers on the farm and in the community growing the beans.

The Reis family on their farm

The Reis Family coffee farm is located near the town of Três Pontas in Brazil. For over 100 years and three generations of sons, the Reis family has been refining their craft to grow the best premium gourmet coffee in the region. The Reis farm is located 1,000+ meters above sea level in southern Minas Gerais, which is known around the world for growing the best coffee in Brazil. The Reis Family has always grown its coffee sustainably and has provided a high quality of life for its workers. This is the first time they have ever exported their well regarded coffee to the United States. Now you too can enjoy a premium taste of Brazil!

The Story Behind Our Premium Brazilian Coffee

All of our coffee beans are bought directly from individual coffee farmers, with no middlemen, brokers, distributors or wholesalers. We pay these farms a premium price to provide a better life for their workers and families. For Três Pontas Brazilian Premium Medium Roast Arabica Whole Bean Coffee, we single-source from the Garcia Reis Farm in Minas Gerais, which helps keep prices for consumers down and quality high. The Três Pontas region’s climate favors coffee bean growth, making it one of the largest areas of coffee processing in Brazil…even housing a coffee museum.

The Reis family and the Três Pontas community have both benefited from our cooperation. Profits have gone towards education in the town, including the building of schools.

Fresh, Hand-Roasted Coffee Beans and a Human Touch

You will appreciate the quality control and unique flavors that result from human interaction in every stage of coffee processing. The Três Pontas brand is proud that our Arabica coffee beans are grown, harvested and processed according to the highest standards and carefully reviewed to ensure that only the best beans make the cut.

Machines are frequently employed during roasting. But, machines have no senses. They work on a timer. They can’t see, smell or build on the years of experience it takes to master the delicate roasting process. All of Três Pontas’ beans are roasted by hand in small batches, a labor-intensive method that provides the unique flavor profile in each bag that you, the gourmet coffee enthusiast, deserve.

Natural Process vs. Washed Coffee

We use a pulped natural method for our coffee that was pioneered in Brazil. That means we leave the fruity mucilage intact during the time-consuming drying process. “Fully-washed” is another means of processing that removes the soft fruit residue before the coffee beans are dried. Though faster, washing the coffee beans before roasting doesn’t allow for the unique geographical flavors to infuse the bean. If you want premium great tasting coffee, avoid beans that have been washed.

Where Does Arabica Coffee Come From?

The origin of Arabica coffee traces back to 1000 BC in Ethiopia and is credited with being the first coffee. Today, Arabica coffee beans are grown in many parts of the world, and are a staple in many of the best Brazilian coffee brands. Known as “Mountain Coffee” or “The Merlot of Coffee,” the beans are so good they don’t have to be mixed with other varieties to produce a high-quality beverage. Coffee flavor profiles vary by regional origin, but generally our Brazilian Arabica coffee’s taste has dark chocolate, caramel, and smoky notes.
